NEW YORK – 1 SEPTEMBER 2021– Phillips is pleased to announce the sale of The Halston Personal Archives: The Lesley Frowick Collection to Benefit the Halston Fashion Scholarship Initiative. Taking place on Phillips’ Gallery One platform from 9-16 September, the sale will feature 44 works of art, photography, and personal sketches from the acclaimed fashion designer’s personal collection. The Halston Archives remains the only definitive and comprehensive source on the man and his legacy as the personally appointed custodian of his private papers and effects. Accompanying the sale, a collector edition which is the first unique ARTXPUZZLES: Puzzle With Purpose jigsaw puzzle issued by the Halston Archive in collaboration to support the Halston Scholarship Fund. The two lots will go to auction with chance to break the Guinness Book of Record of $27,000 USD the highest paid for auction for a jigsaw puzzle in the world.
Each special ARTXPUZZLES collector edition was created in collaboration with ARTXPUZZLES: Puzzles with Purpose and The Halston Archive. A very important and special Victorian-cut wooden framed collector edition puzzle presents a rare and select illustration by famed illustrator to Halston, Joe Eula. Each lot supporting The Halston Scholarship Fund, Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement and the First Responder’s Children Foundation.
Among the highlights of the sale are illustrations by Halston, himself, along with those of the lauded Joe Eula, photographs by Bill Cunningham and Helmut Newton, and works by artists such as Victor Hugo and Joan Miró. The Halston Portrait AXP Collector Edition taken by Lesley Frowick is noted as one of the last portraits ever taken of the legendary designer during his lifetime. Halston Original Resort 1978, Joe Eula is a special illustration and meaningful selection from Joe Eula from the Halston Archive, this unique AXP edition is estimate of $5000-$7000, positioned to reach the goal for a future breaking record of the Guinness Book of World Records.
